DACA Recipient Awarded Young Professional #ATHENA2019 Award!
On Friday, Reyna Montoya was awarded the Young Professional award by the Greater Phoenix Chamber at the Athena Awards 2019!
The ATHENA Awards, named after the Greek goddess of courage and wisdom, is a program of ATHENA International, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women.
Reyna Montoya is the Founder + CEO here at Aliento, she is also the first DACA recipient to ever receive an Athena Award. Among the finalist were Yassamin Ansari (Policy Advisor with Climate Action Summit Team at United Nations) and Jennifer Yee (Attorney at Snell & Wilmer LLP)
“This award is for every undocumented immigrant who has shine their light despite the darkness. This goes to every child of immigrants. You’re good enough. You’re loved..
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, you know who you are! Special shout out to Greater Phoenix Chamber for acknowledging the contributions of women and my amazing Aliento team!
Mami y Papi los amo mucho gracias x todo! Arizona you’re always in my heart”
Congratulations to Reyna, Sherri, Cindy and all the finalists! You all make our state a better place.
The fate of DACA is currently being decided by the Supreme Court and my future is uncertain. Please donate $5, $10, $25, or $50 to Aliento. Or become an Aliento Sponsor, we are fundraising $40,000 for us to get our own office space since we keep growing! Your contribution will help us continue working with our migrant communities! We need YOU to step in now more than ever.
