Organizational Development Intern

Report to: Grants, Impact, and Compliance Manager
Paid Internship: $18 an hour
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours weekly, including one day at the office

About Aliento
Aliento is a 501(c)3 non-profit leadership organization that is undocumented, DACA and youth-led. We are directly impacted people and allies who are invested in the well-being, emotional healing, and leadership development of those impacted by the inequalities of lacking an immigration status.
We have impacted the lives of over 50,000 people through programs that led the efforts to pass Prop: 308, tuition equity for Arizona students regardless of immigration status. We are a leading voice for undocumented, DACAmented, and mixed-status families locally, nationally, and globally.
Through education initiatives, youth leadership development, training, art, and advocacy, we transform trauma, anxiety, and fear into hope and action.
Position Summary
Collaborate with the Organizational Development Team to identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies, conduct prospect research, and write draft/edit proposals to secure privately and publicly funded grants for the organization. Interns might be asked to assist in building the organization's capacity by assisting with online visibility.

Responsabilities Include
Research and identify grant and fellowship opportunities aligned with the Aliento’s mission.
Prepare focused one-pagers summarizing funding opportunities for team review.
Evaluate eligibility criteria, application requirements, and deadlines for potential opportunities.
Support drafting and editing grant proposals and related documents.
Conduct weekly check-ins with the supervisor to track progress.
Collaborate on a cumulative project highlighting the internship’s outcomes.
(May also) Support online visibility through drafting and editing content for the website, blog posts, and social media platforms, as well as assisting in online campaigns.
Minimum Qualifications
Passion for immigration, education, mental health, arts, and other areas that advance the rights of undocumented youth and mixed-status families.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong reflective practice and growth mindset.
Proficient in Google Drive and online collaboration tools.
Reliable transportation to attend events at the office and off-site.
Preferred Qualifications
Junior or Senior in college.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of grant writing principles and best practices is a plus.
