BREAKING: 300 Students at the AZ Capitol in support of Instate Tuition for Dreamers!

PHOENIX, AZ. - Today, Aliento held their 2nd annual Education Day 2020. Education Day is an event held at the AZ Capitol to speak with both Democrats and Republicans about the importance of Instate Tuition for Dreamers. More than 300 students from more than 30 schools across the valley join together at the Arizona Capitol to advocate for Instate Tuition for Dreamers!

The event started at Brophy College Preparatory, where all the students were briefed and put into teams. Then they all headed to the Capitol in waves via light rail!

Throughout the day, they held meetings with Arizona senators and representatives to talk about the importance of instate tuition being accessible to all students regardless of their immigration status and they took the time to share stories about how the issue affects them directly and indirectly. We met with over 50 of our elected officials!

2,000 Arizona high school graduates graduate each year and are in academic limbo. It has been 14 years since the state has updated its laws on tuition for dreamers. Arizona voters deserve an opportunity to show their support for dreamers and the state legislature can help them voice their vote.
