Location: Phoenix, AZ (in-person availability required on specified dates; some remote work possible).

Position Summary
The Communications and Marketing Consultant (Contractor) is responsible for leading and executing strategic communications and marketing efforts that elevate and protect the Aliento brand. This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates exceptional communication skills, and strengthens the visibility, consistency, and integrity of Aliento’s brand across all platforms.
The consultant will work closely with the Director of Digital and Technology to support strategic communications and marketing initiatives. They will provide weekly progress updates, maintain and optimize workflows, identify challenges and proactively propose solutions, and ensure the smooth and timely execution of departmental priorities.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred) and is an exceptional written and verbal communicator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and manage complex communications initiatives with clarity, efficiency, and impact.

Demonstrates strong project management execution, including creating project plans, managing workflows, meeting deadlines, and pivoting quickly in fast-moving environments.
Maintains close attention to detail in both communications deliverables and internal processes, holding themselves and collaborators to clear standards.
A compelling written and verbal communicator across diverse internal and external audiences, including youth, families, funders, and partners.
Technically proficient in communications tools (e.g., social media platforms, email marketing, project management systems, content calendars, and basic analytics).
Data-informed and comfortable tracking outcomes such as engagement, reach, and campaign performance.
Deeply aligned with and committed to Aliento’s mission, vision, and core values, with a demonstrated passion for supporting immigrant communities, education, mental health, arts, and youth leadership.
Scope of Work
1. Communications Strategy & Execution (25%)
Lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Translate campaign, program, and organizational priorities into clear, compelling messaging across platforms.
Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging in all outward-facing communications.
2. Digital Marketing & Content Management (25%)
Lead and manage the planning and coordination of digital content calendars (social media, email, website).
Support the creation and deployment of social media posts, newsletters, and website updates.
Coordinate with designers, videographers, and storytellers to ensure assets are delivered on time and meet standards.
3. Project Management, Reporting, & Documentation (25%)
Lead communications and marketing projects from concept to execution using Asana and internal workflows.
Track timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and progress across campaigns and initiatives.
Proactively identify gaps, flag risks, and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Provide weekly progress memos, including:
Completed tasks and milestones
Upcoming priorities
Challenges and recommended solutions
Maintain organized documentation of processes, templates, and workflows.
4. Stakeholder Coordination (20%)
Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders on communications and marketing needs.
Must be available to check media requests daily
Support cross-department collaboration to align messaging for programs, campaigns, and events.
Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external partners.
5. Brand Stewardship (5%)
Safeguard and strengthen the Aliento brand across all channels, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and values.
Review and advise on creative assets, messaging, and content to ensure brand accuracy and quality.
Identify opportunities for brand growth and visibility.

$30 - $34 per hour, depending on experience
