Aliento Partners with MTV for Global Mental Health Action Day

Phoenix, AZ — May 15, 2025. Aliento is proud to partner with MTV’s Mental Health Action Day on May 15, 2025, as part of a month-long Mental Health Awareness Campaign. The campaign, launched at the start of May, focuses on raising awareness of mental health issues, destigmatizing conversations, and empowering students, Dreamers, and their families with practical tools to support their well-being.

Through a combination of mental health tips, expert Q&As, interactive support group sessions, and creative healing events, Aliento aims to create safe spaces where emotional well-being is nurtured and celebrated.

The Goals of Aliento’s Mental Health Campaign:

  • Promote the move from awareness into action to support the mental health of self and others.

  • Destigmatize mental health conversations and encourage open dialogue within families, schools, and communities.

  • Provide resources and tools to support wellness and build resilience.

Our communities often face unique challenges, like fear of deportation and family separation, that can take a toll on mental health, especially for young people balancing school, family expectations, and the hope of building a better future.

"When we talk about mental health, especially in immigrant communities, we're talking about breaking generations of silence and stigma," said Ileana Salinas, Cultiva Program Manager at Aliento. "We want students, Dreamers, and their families to know that seeking support is a sign of strength and that healing is possible, even in the face of persistent challenges."

Aliento’s Mental Health Campaign is part of a broader movement in partnership with MTV’s Mental Health Action Day, happening today, Thursday, May 15, 2025. Mental Health Action Day is a global initiative involving over 2,700 partners across 32 countries, all working together to shift the conversation from awareness to tangible action.
