Aliento is led by directly impacted individuals, youth, and supporters who strive to create an environment where human potential is nurtured and not defined by immigration status. Aliento supports students and families through education initiatives, arts & healing programming, leadership development, civic engagement, and policy.
Position Summary
Aliento is seeking Arts & Healing Facilitators to support Cultiva programming across Arizona. Cultiva creates safe, creative spaces for students and families to engage in healing, self-expression, and community-building through art.
Facilitators will co-lead workshops using the provided curriculum, guiding reflective prompts, mindfulness practices, and art-making across formats (virtual support groups, in-class and after-school sessions, open mics, and weekend workshops). This is a flexible contractor role; facilitators sign up for shifts and assignments are coordinated by the Cultiva Program Manager.
Ideal candidates are committed to mental health education, arts practice, immigrant justice, and community care. Candidates should be dependable, prepared, and adept at engaging diverse audiences. You should communicate compassionately and effectively with students and be comfortable operating in bilingual (Spanish/English) environments. Spanish fluency is not required. Subject-matter expertise in every mental health topic or medium is not expected; facilitators must demonstrate a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and uphold Aliento’s values professionally.
Selected facilitators will receive training and ongoing support; come ready to engage, remain open to guidance, and request support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Co-lead lesson plan review meetings with provided curriculum
Conduct community outreach through messages and phone calls
Guide students through mindfulness, reflection, and arts-based activities
Create a safe, supportive, and affirming space for all students
Facilitate curriculum with fidelity while adapting to participants needs
Document events with photos and debrief notes
Set up and clean up to ensure a welcoming, organized environment
Complete data entry and reporting to measure program impact
Ability to reflect, receive and implement feedback to improve program effectiveness
Optional: create social media content for mental health awareness
Minimum Qualifications
Available at least 2 full school days per semester between Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM
Attend in-person Facilitator Training on Saturday, August 1st, 2026
Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35 lbs
Reliable transportation to sites across the Phoenix metro area
Willingness to attend early morning virtual prep meetings with teachers
Able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card and complete volunteer clearance with school partners
Strong communication skills — both written and verbal
Ability to travel outside of Maricopa County to support Arizona students
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with immigrant communities, youth, or in educational settings
Experience in teaching, group facilitation, arts education, or healing practices
Fluent in English and Spanish
Compensation
$20/hour
Paid full-day training
Mileage reimbursement for assignments outside Maricopa County
