This November 8th, Proposition 308 will be on the AZ Ballot! Prop. 308 would provide in-state tuition to ALL Arizona high school graduates regardless of immigration status.

We are devastated to hear the passing of the 51 migrants in San Antonio, Texas. 51 human beings who were only seeking a better life, coming from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

Michelle Udall and Joel John, the Arizona House of Representatives voted today 33 to 27 to put forward a ballot initiative that would provide standard, in-state college tuition to all students who attend and graduate from an Arizona high school, regardless of immigration status.

On May 4th, 2022, the Texas Governor, Gregg Abbot, said on a radio show that he would challenge the Plyler V. Doe Supreme Court case which was ruled in 1982. Plyler V. Doe case granted undocumented children access to a K-12 public education in the United States.

For this years Women’s History Month, we highlighted historical woman from all generations! Our team chose dancers, gymnasts, artists, and more!

Our DREAMers and mixed status families need policy change and actual solutions. President Biden promised a pathway to citizenship to Dreamers, TPS, farmworkers, and essential workers during his first year in office, yet this promise has been unfulfilled.

At Aliento, we all applaud the recent announcement by the White House to provide healthcare coverage to DACA recipients; healthcare needs to be accessible and affordable for everyone, including our immigrant communities.

Last week, we brought over 120 students to the Arizona Capitol, thanking our elected officials for voting on SCR 1044, in-state tuition for Dreamers!

We are devastated that immigration was not included as part of the budget. DACA remains in legal limbo as Federal courts decide its faith. This means that Dreamers are at risk of losing everything and facing potential deportation.

Aliento is one of eight global organizations awarded the Adolescent Mental Health Grant by Zoom Cares.

Aliento was awarded this multi-year grant to continue to support our Cultiva program grounded in bringing our arts & healing workshops, mental health initiatives, and support for undocumented and mixed-status families in the height of the pandemic. Over the next two years, we hope to reach 2500-3000 students through our programs.
