On December 4th, US Judge Nicholas Garaufis has ordered the Trump administration to fully restore the DACA, instructing DHS to accept new as well as advance parole applications on Monday 12/7/2020. After years of lawsuits, executive orders, and thousands of sleepless nights and tears from the community, the DACA program will finally reopen.

Today, Arizona has shown the country who we are. After the signage of SB 1070 “show me your papers law,” anti-immigrant rhetoric, and hate we have come together to organize our community to voice their thoughts.

As of November 4th, 2020, the election results have not been finalized and we do not know yet who the victor of the Election is.

With the support of the community, ALIENTO helped 443 families who lost their jobs, had reduced hours/income, were behind in their rent, utilities and struggled with food. These families are facing really hard times economically and mentally due to the pandemic.

Just as I began to regain hope, all my plans were shattered. When they announced the restoration of DACA on June 18, 2020, it was as if millions of opportunities opened up.

Dreamers, community leaders, allies and attorneys will gather today outside of the ICE field office after the Supreme Court decided to side with the Trump administration to end the popular DACA program for a press conference urging Congress to provide a pathway for citizenship prior to ICE starting to deport dreamers.

This morning, the United States’ Supreme Court announced their decision on the DACA case. By a margin of 5-4 the Supreme Court decided that President Trump did not follow the Administration Procedures Act, thereby keeping the program alive.

On that day, eight years ago, I held my tears back and stayed focused. I had to share the joy, sadness, and accomplishment as reporters and many dreamers were waiting to interpret what had just happened and what the announcement meant….

A poll commissioned by Aliento shows that approximately 9 in 10 Voters in Arizona support giving Dreamers a pathway to citizenship.

Since announcing the Relief Fund for Mixed-Status Families, Aliento has helped more than 100 families across Arizona and other states across the nation. Starting last week, Aliento notified families that had filled out a survey and expressed need of financial assistance and were left out from the CARES Act.
